ABOUT – WILD FLOWERS & HERBARIUMS
“Nature appears big in big things, but is even bigger in small things.” Jacques Henri de Saint Pier
Wild flora inspires the work of this studio based in Madrid. They forage, press and store wild, free flowers and plants. And design small landscapes that preserve the beauty of the forest. Each piece evokes a natural scenario, a season, a memory. Each canvas suggests moments and time enjoyed in nature.
Flowers and plants that belong to our memory, to our childhood. Memory is strange, intimate, almost magic, and deeply rooted in our environment. Humble, tiny, common flora. Beautiful flowers that talk about everyday beauty. Fennel, Queen’s Anne Lace, poppies, lavender, rosemary, heather…
It is a long process. Harvesting in each season, capturing their colours, species and little miracles. Pressing process is quite meticulous, respecting the essence of each flower, of each leaf. When the pressing is over, comes the emotion of opening the press and discovering the unique details of each piece: weathered colours, a magic patina of time, some translucent petals.
The storage ritual is a very special moment, in a dedicated cupboard that formerly served as a printer drawer. After having held many words, stories and books, now it is full of flowers.
Finally, the composition.
After this long road, and cultivating an attentive and slow sight, compositions arise almost by themselves, as if the flowers already know their place.
This is our work, bringing the forest into your home.
Or creating an unforgettable moment, when you make a gift a of meaningful, small piece of nature.
